The other main category of hunting exhibitions concerns Arctic seal hunting. Given Tromsø’s long tradition with seal hunting, the museum was able to easily source a large amount of suitable exhibition material on this theme. [ Read more ]

| THE EARLIEST HUNTING PERIOD

The museum also presents an exhibition on the earliest hunting period in Svalbard, where Dutchman Willem Barentsz’s famous expedition of 1596 claimed there were plentiful stocks of whale and walrus in the waters around Svalbard. [ Read more ]

This exhibition is based on a photo collection covering Roald Amundsen’s life and exploits in the Polar Regions.
